Reliable on/off fuel tap for HRC setups

Im soon to be going the HRC route and therefore will need to gut the stock fuel tap to flow more fuel. With it being mainly a road bike id like to fit something a little better than just a dry break connector, other than it being a pain in the arse to squeeze my hand through the fairings everytime i stop it doesnt look too cool having to connect fuel lines before riding off plus im bound to forget either way.

So has anyone so far fitted a realiable fuel tap further down the line from the stock tap? or is it possible to fit an electric dry break system that could either work via a switch or off the ignition?

i have been meaning to fit one of these for ages, and connect to the ignition live T,

have a butchers, could use a wire from the starter solenoid, or the rear brake light switch.

Couldn't you fit the ZXR400 electric fuel pump and relay?

Tony, i really need some help on this as im wanting to fit a fuel pump on the SP.
1st does the NC/RVF have a pump as standard? are they as my Suzi with a vacuum tap?
How are you going to connect a fuel pump to run only when the motor is running.

All nnc,s run the vacume tap system, hrc setup runs a straight through tap. Ram air setups run a fuel pump usually run off the coil feed although the ignitech cdi's have a fuel pump relay.

I guess a fuel pump would work for me but I'm concerned as to what would happen if left ticking over, would the pump eventually flood the bowls??

I must be very lucky as ive never had any trouble with my HRC modded tap. I never disconnect my quick release fuel line when the bike is left standing (sometime for months on end). I just turn the fuel tap off and walk away.

Im unsure about the tick over. You sound ok with the ignitec but i dont get the coil connection as dont you get 12v at the coils as soon as the ignition is on? wont the pump still feed the carbs if the motor stops i.e crash?
The ignitec will kill the pump (i think) if the motor stops. Ive read about a vacuum electric switch that would run off the standard vacuum so i think i will go this way.

Yer the pump still fires when the ignition is on and not running, but it only fires every 3 or so seconds so it would take a while for it to overflow the carbs. It's one of those things that you just have to remember (turn off the ignition or kill switch) The other pain in the ass is; if you turn the petrol off or have an inline fuel connector (not connected) and you run the bike, the fuel in the bowls and pump get used and it runs the pump dry. This then causes problems starting the bike after. Did this a few times over the weekend getting my ramair system set up. As you say Chris, teh vacuum switch is the way to go, or a kill switch like you have on a crosser or jetski.

I didn't think my hrc modded tap leaked till i had a fuel filter on, ran it dry and left teh petrol on, and the filter was full in about 2 hrs, so it was leaking and i had no idea.

Mine is fine if I leave it all hooked up with the fuel tap OFF. However, If I take the tank off to work on the bike, then it does tend to dribble.
