Is this right ?...No engine numbers on V5's ?

Im making enquires about engines for sale on ebay & when i asked if the seller could find an engine he has for sale on a log book (V5) i got this reply.................We have 3 sets of engine crankcases, and two frames. The
crankcases would have come from one of the two frames we have available.
Unfortunatly all NC29's were import only, and when they were imported the
engine numbers were not recorded and not put on the V5's. I bet that if you
check your V5 you will not have a engine number either, it will just be
stamped NC23 like all of the V5's we have here for these frames. You will
not be able to find a engine number recored on a V5 as they just weren't
recorded.

could well be. havent checked my nc29 but my old bandit 600 didnt have an engine number, and that was an import

hi there yes my v5 doesnt list my engine number either mines an nc29 so it must be the norm i had a tzr250 import a while back and that was the same hope this helps regards keith

Just to confuse things my v5 has both numbers.

Just checked mine for you, doesnt have the engine number either.

I know mine does as i had to declare it when i registered the bike, i cant see any reason why it wont have the engine number

Weird....so some have and some have'nt then, I'll check mine as soon as i find the bloody thing !!

Just found it & mine has got the engine number on it Weird...to those people on here that have'nt, would you not prefer if it was ?....If the worst happens & the bike ever gets nicked...surely the engine wont be reported as stolen ?

My NC23 does have its engine number on the V5. I think it would be easier without it, that way if the engine goes pop you can stick another one in without having to worry about dealing with the moronic DVLA.

Yeah its got its plus side rob, but if you unknowingly buy a nicked engine & get pulled over by the rozzers...they take the whole bike & you'll be lucky if you get it back minus just the engine ...I aint taking that chance
