Rear suspension link

Post by syweeks »

On my VFR (as on probably everyones) the rear suspension link that you remove when changing the rear shock has three piviot points.
Two of them, one short, one longer, use needle bearings to rotate. The third has a "metalastic"(?) bearing thats pressed into the link.

My question is... is this bearing supposed to rotate freely like the other two or is it supposed to be fixed?
I only ask as I'm sorting my rear end and mine is stuck solid. So before I bugger it completely I thought I'd seek the collective advice on here first..
Many thanks in anticipation

The third one you refer to is a bush and is not meant to rotate.

Cheers fella.

I did search but could not find that thread, anyway, thanks again, you're a gent.

dont suppose you know the link to convrting it to roller bearing as per the NC35 as mentioned in the link?
Is it easy or a real ball acher? And does it really make that much of a difference?

Yep, I did this recently. I also posted a thread and someone posted the link in that thread. I'll dig it up...

Hmmm, the link in the thread seems to be dead at the moment.

The actual job is fairly straightforward. you just need to order the needle bearings, bush and 2x rubber covers from the NC35 linkage. Then have the solid NC30 bush pressed out, the hole machined larger and the NC35 bearing pressed into place.

I can dig through my old David Silver orders later and get the Part No's if needed

Thanks
