Decent power does not come cheap. FZR600 carbs will not help, unless you also swap in a 600 motor, which is about the most cost effective power mod you can make.

I've tried RamAir foam filters on 1WG, 3TJ and 4JH (600) engines and it's not worth the hassle or expense of buying them, sorting jets and then paying for the extra fuel you'll use making more noiseI've gone back to the airbox on my 4/6
Hi there,
What about fitting to the FZR400 FZR1000 (RU) rear shock? The one with the remote reservoir. Does it fit?
Also can you sent me a pm about the dogbone. I want o get one.

Take the head off and skim it. On these bikes there was a lot to take. Alternatively take the middle leaf from the head gasket. Use a dynojet kit, and an open pipe but not individual air filters, keep the airbox and drill some holes on its lead. Forget the 600 3HE conversion, the engine has weak conrods and they snap too easily.chrisb wrote:Hello
ive got a standard 1988 fzr 400 1wg, looking how to add bit more power ???
ive been told many things like fzr 600 carbs but people say not to?
anyone know any mods that are readily available and that wont cost the price of an r1
please help cheers

Kent cams i am sure they can re-profile your cams for a small cost and that would also give you some more power.

I see the dogbones. So are these fit directly with the 07 R6 shock without any extra spacers on the top of the shock? Also my FZR400 is 1WG-045x frame so 3EN1 model I believe with the braced swingarm (ala R1).
Thats R6 sock has a remote reservoir. Wouldnt that obstruct to the braced swingarm?
Kind Regards,

The 1000 RU might well fit, the RU was heaiver than the 400 so the spring might be a bit stiff. I think I remember the 3en1 swingarm does foul the R6 shock but I can't be definate.
Yes you can skim the head and raise the compression of the engine. You can flow the head using a dremmel and sanding away all the rough edges, it won't give you as big a gain as the 600 engine and it will cost a lot more. The 600 as stock is quoted at 90hp even if it puts out 80hp that's a useful hike over the 55 of the 400. The conrods are ok if the engines kept stock and not over revved

Hi, if you change the fork oil, maybe worth taking them to bits and cleaning them out properly and doing the fork seals aswell. I did mine and got soooo much dirt and muck out the fork bottoms. And its made so much differance aswell well worth doing.
I got a twin brake pipe on my 3EN1, fits ok.
And give the calipers a service aswell may find a few bhp from freeing the brakes up a bit!
Cheers

You can overev the 400s no problem however. Yes you are right if you dont push the 3HE 600 its fine. Other piston pins also help as the stock ones are too soft and wear out causing the small end to snap.Evilchicken0 wrote: The 600 as stock is quoted at 90hp even if it puts out 80hp that's a useful hike over the 55 of the 400. I would still however say stay with the 400 its more fun, if you want power go for an R1. Though even there there is always more...

PS: Anybody knows where to find 18 inch rears part worn?
