Re: 400GreyBike.com annual meet/national day
i have no problem heading south if those shady drinking southerners are afraid to venture north
Seriously though, i still fancy a run to the lakes for a few days, maybe a long weekend or something even the highlands. but there were no takers for that.

How about the Peak District? It's fairly central, there's lots of places to camp or stay over and it has great roads. Matlock Bath would be a great place to meet or as a destination for a ride out as it's a massively popular bike meeting place and there's plenty of places to eat and drink.CRM wrote:i have no problem heading south if those shady drinking southerners are afraid to venture north

I'd be interested in this...
I think a mass rideout would be awesome!

I'd love to go for a camping weekend, but my tent is a 4-berth and as I'm a girl I have to have all my creature comforts! My camping stuff will NEVER fit on the bike, it barely fits inside Rex!
Billing Aquadrome would be a good place to go, it's central and there's lots to do there...

You can't fit a weekends camping gear on your bike?!jo wrote:I'd love to go for a camping weekend, but my tent is a 4-berth and as I'm a girl I have to have all my creature comforts! My camping stuff will NEVER fit on the bike, it barely fits inside Rex!

Surely all you need is a tent, sleeping bag and mat, off bike clothing and footwear and some personal care (toiletries to the blokes) items. The whole point of choosing somewhere like Billing Aquadrome is the proximity to amenities like shops, places serving food and drink, so people don't have to drag the kitchen sink with them.
By the way I checked out some reviews of Billing online and it would appear it isn't quite how I remember it. Mind you I've not been since around 2001 so I shouldn't be surprised.
