vfr400 speedo change
just woundering I have managed to change original speedo face off an old universal speedo clock onto vfr400 nc30 but the needle is higher up on new start pin point the pin that the needle end sits on when not moving.Does any body know if were it starts on start pin will this effect reading or not as the new face has kph aswell as mph
here is a picture of what i mean
also going have to replace outer casing as its a bit untidy at moment. Any answer's out there cheers

Can you edit that to make it legible? I cannot quite figure out what you are trying to say.

Re: vfr400 speedo change
Why would you do that?
You can clearly see that on the old one, 0-180kmh takes about 2/3 of the dial. On the new one, 0-180kmh takes about 1/2 the dial. There is no way it can be accurate unless you have quite heavily raised the gearing (ie, larger rear sprocket / smaller front).
Edit: what bits have you actually changed? The odometer reading is different so have youactually changed the entire internals, or just the face like you said you did?
The only way to reliably check this is go out with a car sat nav in a tank bag, or get a GPS speedo app if you have a newer smartphone (iPhone 3GS or 4 can do this, some android phones too).
If it is not right, you may be able to change the 90 degree joint on the back of the speedo, as these sometimes contain slightly different gear ratios.

Re: vfr400 speedo change
No way thats going to work.
What will happen is when you reach where 80/kmh was on the old dial your speedo will move upto that point on the new one.. which is about 20mph on your new dial :/

Re: vfr400 speedo change
Porndog brought a load of MPH faces recently but they all sold.. maybe contact the company he brought them from and get a price on a new one?
The CBR400 was a grey import so it will have km/h clocks too.
You can get NC30 UK clocks that are in MPH if you are lucky to find some.
