nc29 starting problem

Post by pktpaul » Sun Jul 24, 2011 3:19 pm

Hello, most of the time my bike starts fine, but about 1 time in every 20 it turns over and wont catch, when i push start it it goes straight away and is ok again for about another 20 starts then does it again.. it runs perfectly this is the only problem i have. just a bit annoying sometimes.

i put in new plugs, battery is good, balanced and cleaned carbs.

any ideas?

Almost certainly electrical, I would wait until winter then go over every electrical connection on the bike and clean and reseat...you will be surprised just how crappy some of then are.

Sounds to me like your starter motor is on the way out. Considering it is proably 20 years old it has had a good run. I've had one fail on me after many starts during the day at race meetings and it did exactly this.
