Re: NC29 Front brake disks
Loads of other discs fit. Including but not limited to: Nc23,29,30,35,31. Cbr600f3, late vfr750, cbr900 92-7, early hornet, firestorm, who knows what else. It's not limited to discs which look the same, and equally not all which look the same have the same fitment, particularly since later bikes (typically post Fi being introduced) mostly have bigger holes and wider bolt spacing.
Problem is getting good ones secondhand. I bought 6 before I could make one OK pair up and they still have a little tiny pulsing in them and needed painting before I could fit them.
Be sure to tidy your calipers up, as it is almost always stuck pistons which lead to warped discs.

What do you reckon the pulsing is amorti? I've just replaced mine as I thought they were warped but I still have a tiny bit of pulsing at the lever.amorti wrote:I bought 6 before I could make one OK pair up and they still have a little tiny pulsing in them and needed painting before I could fit them.

Re: NC29 Front brake disks
It's still the discs. Either mildly warped or slight variations (we are talking on a scale of 0.1mm so you may not be able to see but can still feel) in thickness around the circumference. Maybe paint on the discs mounting surfaces?Hadies wrote:What do you reckon the pulsing is amorti? Re: NC29 Front brake disks
Before you fork out for more discs, check your wheel bearings and axle, if these were at fault you should feel it always, not just when braking but it's worth a check before spending more cash.

Re: NC29 Front brake disks
It might also be sensible to check head bearings, as loose head bearings can feel funny when braking. But on balance it's probably the discs.leopard_pagan wrote:did front bearings last winter, they are fine. i only "feel" it when i brake.

Re: NC29 Front brake disks
i know what they feel like when they go. stiff steering at slow speeds, notchy feeling when front is off the ground.... no issues there.

Re: NC29 Front brake disks
That's what they feel like when they go stiff, they can also go loose. Then it feels like the steering is a bit loose (funnily enough) particularly at low speeds, and you get a knock on the brakes. Depending on a few things, it can be a rapid repeating knock when on the brakes. You don't necessarily notice once on the move, except it will feel a bit flighty on high speed bends.leopard_pagan wrote:i know what they feel like when they go. stiff steering at slow speeds, notchy feeling when front is off the ground.... no issues there.
