LOL, I got the same bullshit "manufacturer knows best" when I made a long reasoned post on a triumph board about why both master cylinders are the wrong size on the T595. Or why the brakes on a 600 divvy are "fine" or "sufficient" when I said they're crap and you can sort it for a tenner.

The 30's forks might have been great 22 years ago, when ridden by an 11stone Japanese man. After 22 years bearing 180kg, and with the average Uk rider of maybe 13 stone, things are a bit different.

Short version: springs wear out. If you didn't guess, it's why thy have a service limit specified in the book. Which was written by Honda. Who, within the constraints of making a mass market bike to a price, know best.

I would also go for the upgraded springs from Graeme or Rick. I think you have been spoilt with the handling of your race bike, so teh road nc will always feel a little soft by comparison.
