most riders here in the uk on a 76a that i look after tyre depending will run somewhere between 27 and 29psi front and 29 and 32psi rear with a cold tyre.
What tyres do you run? Biggest thing for me is how the bike feels. Too soft and i find it want to pitch up on the front. To hard front slides.

i'm using michelin pilot road 2.
F120/60, R160/60.
erm, i feel that its not that grippy. its more on street use, i think... cost me S$250. what do you guys use?
stripes, you mean if tyres too hard, it tend to slide? no wonder, my rear slided alot when go track. :sshh:
& is it good that tyres get blisters after track? what does it mean? i saw my friends' alot.
i get them but only front tyre.

stripes, ask you a carb question. when carb is out for service, do we adjust as in tighten or loosen the idle screw @ the center of carb 2 & 3 before tuning?

What you have to remember is that it is not just a tyres performance that has effect on the way a bike goes around a corner. I could open a can of worms and explain suspension damping and geometry. Then go into weight transfer and braking and throttle effects. Tyres and pressures and also compounds of tyres and temperature of the tyre and track. For setting tyre pressures we use tyre pyrometers to see what heat is in the tyre.
At the track you use get an instructor to take your bike out and see what they think to the setup and get advise from them. When i setup the bikes for people i find feel of the bike gives the best indication.

If the bike is idling at the right speed now leave the screws until you put it back together. It will make it easier to set up.

Before i set my tyre pressures, i speak to the track day organizer's to find out how hot the track is and what they recommend. As for the instructors, use them. I had a better time after an instructor came out with me, they know their stuff.

Now were talking tyre pressures, I have a question.

I have onlt 2 trackdays under my belt.

On the first one it was suggested to me to put 25psi both front and rear.......Felt wierd at first but once the tyres were warmed up I could feel it sticking.

The next TD was at Brands....was told to put 31 32 psi cold.....but I could'nt get heat into the tyre, yet i felt i rode harder at brands and the rear let go round the last right hander before the straight at the finish line....forget the name of the bend.

Any thought???

Oh it was on the srad600 btw.

down here is different, guys. on the track, there's no instructor... track is shared btween cars & bikes, hourly. sometimes, not even a soul, just me & my friends. we chose to go on weekdays. we dont go on track days as it'll be very crowd & i think maybe there's organiser but dont think have instructor...
so i'm just getting the basic info, then maybe just trial & error. ;)
by the way, the track is call Pasir Gudang Johor Circuit, its quite small & old already.
Sepang international is a better track but too far for me...
