that's about the size of it ;)

as far as i can see, the difference is only going to be about 0.8 A.
the standards are 12V/40/55 and the H4s are 12V/55/60,
so the high on a standard lamp is the same as the dipped on the H4,
the only difference being the 5W per lamp on high beam for the H4, which amounts to about 0.8A (P=IV)
as modern lamps give better lumens per watt the 5w per lamp is exponentially brighter than the standard lamp

well that's the theory,

the upshot of all this is,
IF the dangly bit is opposed to the center,
THEN the result will be a badly deformed trajectory of the original train of thought = 42

there's this link http://www.theretrofitsource.com/produc ... cts_id=221
They look like H1 units and could maybe mount in the 3TJ's headlight ... but you'll need to cut it

There's these too http://www.hids4u.co.uk/bi-xenon-projec ... anger.html
That looks like a German headlight. One beam on at a time on those and the dipped beam will turn up to the wrong side for the UK (correct me if I'm wrong but I have one of those in the garage)

The FZR1000 EXUP single H4 type headlight will also fit but the connector to the loom is different (you need to splice in a H4 headlight connector or similar). The lamp takes a single H4 and will JUST fit in front of the front fairing/clock bracket but changing the bulb can be a bit tricky as it's right behind the centre bracket.

You could be right, I think the lamps were from the USA so they'd on the right. I didn't think motorbikes dipped to one side due to them leaning in a corner. Lastly I thought and throwing of the light left or right would be in the outer lens on the 3TJ not in the paralever lamps. The Yam units don't show anything other than a tube, the silvering isn't great on them and they have a 2 fillament bulb there's no shutter like on a car.

There are a couple of headlights that will fit the 3TJ, TRX850, FZR600, FJ1200 and the FZR1000 Exup RU they even used them in Bimotas ... The one I bought with the paralever / fixed beam headlight is ok but the single dipping H4 unit is a bit ugly when you compair it to the double paralever lamps of the 3TJ

it's looking like this might actually work :o
so once i trim another H4 into shape, i'll post pics of two H4s together and one of the two standard lamps for comparison
