Fork issue.
I'm doing the R.O fork upgrade to some late style forks although think I've messed it up for
Myself I've undone the bottom bolt and removed all the internals. Now I'm trying to reassemble and the bit the bolt screws onto in just spinning. And I now can't do it up or undo it. Also what's the fork stanchion??
I read the instructions and watched a video on the net and between the two I've stillmade a hash of it. Any tips?? As I'm wrestling with it now and I'm out of ideas.

Re: Fork issue.
the stanchion is the shiny chromed tube that goes in the yokes, (upper outer parts of the forks)
youll need to compress the forks or use a broom handle inside the fork to tighten teh bottom damper bolt up.

Re: Fork issue.
Better answer: Put it all together without oil, then the spring will compress it and you'll be able to tighten up the damper bolt. Then remove the cap and fill the oil.
Just be careful to get the bolt in square into the thread. If you cross-thread it, you'll have a problem and it's not that hard to do.

Re: Fork issue.
Erm not sure Ricky. No idea what the internals of forks look like. I've only got springs and what looks like spacers to fit....

its a 5min job hade,Hadies wrote:Erm not sure Ricky. No idea what the internals of forks look like. I've only got springs and what looks like spacers to fit....
suspend the front end,
undo the fork adjuster caps
pull the old springs and spacers out, put new ones in simples.
drain the old oil first with the 10mm hex head bolt at the back of the forks,
