Re: Work in Progress - Stalled at Fairings

Post by padawan » Sat Jun 25, 2011 9:19 pm

Hey All,

So today I finished up the little bits and pieces like putting on the rear-sets, tourqing up a few remaining nuts, checking the brakes, taping up the electrics etc. Anyway, I came onto putting on the fairings - now I've been hoarding a Suzuka Type nose cone for a while thinking I could just put it on and use the lower fairings that I already had. Anyway, I put it on today and noticed the following:

a) Original screen brace is out of alignment with the fairing in that wing mirror holes do not align exactly and the screen brace seems too narrow
b) No catering for the original radiator guard i.e. there are no holes and from quick inspection seems that it won't fit anyway
c) I have original lower fairings but no idea if they will fit - basically I didn't go there

I know that the side infill panels fit (but there is no tab to screw in the upper retaining screws).

Anyway chaps what am I looking at here? Do I need to get hold of all the pieces in order to using the nose cone?
i.e. screen brace, radiator guard and lower fairings?

OK,

So the silence is telling me that I'm right on all counts?

what nose cone is it padawan?

most nose cones are designed to use the lowers, i know the sillhouette does, as does the tyga, but im led to believe that you need an RVF V panel for the Tyga one,

got any pics?

if its a silohuette i will buy it for good money :D

I haven't got a picture my camera broke this weekend and my phone camera is $hite.

Just been scouting for a picture but can't find anything similar - I'd guess at silhouette it has a single light (which has not been added on) and it has two arrow like vents on on the top. From your description I'm guessing I'm not going to be able to use it without the whole shebang .. at this rate it could be up to grabs as I still need to pay for the paint job.

Ricky, with my Tyga Suzuka nose I did use an RVF V piece, because the VFR one caught on some resin in the hole that I didn't have the means to remove.
