Fairing fasteners

Post by iDemonix »

What do you use?

All the screws that hold my front V piece to the nose cone are all completely fucked and rusty, I just prize them out and pop them back in. Also two clips that hold my infils in are missing so I can't screw through (although the top bolt bits of my infils are broken anyway). So was wondering what fasteners people are using and where to buy them from, I'm not even sure what those folded bits of metal are called and same for those push pop screw things.

The little tapped clips that fold around the fairing are called chimney nuts or sometimes j-clips.

The screws on the mid fairing pieces that you unscrew a 1/4 turn are called Dzus fasteners. NC30s use 6x12mm ones, I believe.

Of course, you can always go to http://www.tastynuts.com and buy individual ones, but they tend to charge a bit of a premium.

I do quite fancy a quick release system but I'm terrified some fucker is going to come along and nick my fairings. I suppose they'd still need an allen key to get the crash bobbins off though.

Cheers lads, will have a think.

Anyone else use quick-rel?

I use 4 quick release fasteners for the mids/lowers. They're awesome. I wish I had them all over the bike. I'm lazy you see......
