rear hub

Post by jay3 »

hello,

took rear hub out last night, cleaned off years of grime. However, the piece that the chain ring connects to has started to, corrode, or flake apart. Kind of like rust but not rusty just flaking off. Hard to explain, but those of you who have had this will know what I mean. Or feast your eyes on these here pics......

So, what to do ? grind off any flaking, and powder coat ? Is it possible to get a replacement ? Do I even need a replacement ?

Thanks in advance..

had the same happen on my sprocket carrier,

its the road salt that starts to corrode and attack the alloy, luckily its not as bad as it looks, get ya 80Grit W&D on it and get it down to a smooth surface and then powder coat,
