Gsxr 400 cdi and wiring harness transplant from 600
Hi am the unfortunate owner of a GSXR 400 wit a shot CDI, i am toying with the possibility of transplanting a 600 slingshot cdi, wiring harness and trigger on to it. Does anyone have any idea if this would work? Or what else needs to be changed all your views very much appreciated

it wont work but if you already have the 600 parts and want to use here is some advise due to the size of the parts the 600 pick-up rotor is approx 2" dia and the 400 pick-up rotor is approx 4,5" dia and a fixed to the starter clutch but all is not lost if you have the 600 rotor in hand go to a breaker and look for a starter clutch that has its 'pins' matching in lay out (if i recall correct an RF400R item may match) the the rotor remembering that the 600 item fits on the right side of a motor and the 400 on the left so compare by having parts back to back once match found stage two the pick up alignment to pin the 600 had 2 types one where pick up rearward of motor one the pick up downward so with motors at TDC 1-4 compare and cut slot on starter clutch to rotate if needed to align check 600 manual for photo of tdc marks this is important so cdi will count 'pins' correctly to generate a firing pulse for the coils as for the wiring side check if plugs inside the connector is the same if wire count and color the same just remove wire from connector block and place in 600 connector block colour for color if 600 has a pink wire and your bike dont simple get either 0.68 k ohm or 1.5 k ohm resistor an connect in series to earth and you should be ready to start the motor
but all in all ask a breaker if he wont swap all your 600 bitz for the correct 400 cdi
