Is it poss to firm up front forks

Cool - I never knew that the 29s were all damper rod forks. It makes total sense that seperating the high/low functions of compression would make it miles better. Do you have any thoughts on how the rebound is afected? Do you run a different weight oil with this set-up?

My bike has 12.5 weight fork oil, but it's old and sad and ugly! It needs fresh oil, but my bike is in Victoria and I'm currently living in Tasmania. I'd say I'm now at the level where I would notice things like oil weight, but being unemployed and an hour's flight away, I can't do any experimentation on it.

I don't believe rebound is changed from standard (it's certainly not controlled by the emulator), so there is no adjustment there. I've not found the need to adjust rebound, but that's most likely because I'm not going fast enough. I was doing 1.53's and a 1.52 at Phillip Island a couple of weeks ago (until I dropped a valve), the guys at the front were doing 1.50's to 1.48's

Back to the NC23, my mate has a stock front, and with that is capable of 1.47's at the Island. He reckons he's heard that Graeme France does a Gold Valve for the 23, so might be worth talking to him.

The first thing to do is change the springs and new oil. After that you can see if the damping isn't good enough.

Springs and new oil, I understand!! I might drop Graeme France a quick email to see what he reckons and if he supplies any springs that would do me, otherwise the wemoto ones will do the trick. Thanks everyone for the info and advice.

My NC30 forks on the race bike were setup and sorted by Graeme (for the previous fork owner) and are superb - heavier springs and fresh oil does the trick
