Rear sub-frame weight load limit.

Hey guy's,

I was hoping you guy's could help with a little query of interest.
What is the actual max weight load for the NC21 sub-frame?

I have a VFR400K, which I use for commute and pleasure. The only issue here is that I also have a girlfriend and we don't get to choose what we ride, we have to make do with what we got ( not that much of hardship as the vfr400 is unarguably one of THE best bikes ever built).

The thing is, I want to start making it a little more touring friendly. It's already got higher bars ( as standard), but one thing that worries me is the carrying capability of the sub-frame. I'm hoping to fit a rack (don't laugh!) and some throw over soft-luggage. On the rack will obviously be carried a couple of sleeping bags and a tent. I'll fit a longer and/or stiffer shock and possibly play with sprocket sizes a bit.

What worries me though, is that I'll be adding extra weight right on the very end of the sub-frame. So we have rider, pillion and luggage spread across a sub-frame weighing about as much as a bag of sugar.

So , how do I know what the safe carrying capacity of the sub-frame is?

I know there's the VFR400P, a police outfit, which invariably carries a whole lot more weight, so I'm sure I probably shouldn't worry.

Any opinions?

Thanks in advance :-)
