Titanium welding anyone?

i need to get hold of a titanium welder if possible, its for my exhaust system its titanium, and one of the collars underneath has snapped off on removal of my exhaust =/ so i need a titanium welder if anybody knows of one? i live in the Manchester area

I will see a guy today who welds Ti in stoke area, post his number later.

RCV4 welds Ti very good... send him a PM, not sure where he is located.

thanks for your help guys! i'm unsure of the system, but ive posted pics on another thread and someone thinks its standard system, but its in immaculate condition, nice and clean

Your exhaust is stainless steel... take it off and see how much it weighs! :mrgreen:

I'd agree with the guy's in the thread where your pics are posted, it looks like a stock cut system. I've one in the garage and it's quite heavy. The used mild steel collars on them to connect with the front header pipes which rot through...

Sound familiar?

I would suggest you want to find someone locally who can TIGweld, get them to weld on some stainless collars. If you get the fit right, you don't need any gaskets, just a bit of silicon to seal.

Btw good quality stainless isn't magnetic.... you can get magnetic stainless steal, but it has a bad habit of rusting, although tends to be harder..... it's a bit of a trade off, corrosion resistance vs hardness of material.

i think it is to be honest! which is good in a way as cheaper to get welded :) yeah i know someone who can TIG weld matey, dont i need collars making and the material inside?
i've been told its very common on these bikes, that the collars rust =/ not bad for 21 year old bike! lol, thank your for your help matey
