Woo hoo - failed UK spec rectifier

Post by CRM »

My first one. i have seen many jap spec ones fail but never a uk spec or RC30 spec item.
anyway mine snuffed it today on the way back from work.
spotted the tell tail signs, so lights off and got home quick, sure enough clutch in on the drive it stalled and would only click on the button.

I was always waiting for it to fail - and sure enough it has. good old honda, dependable like day and night.

what a coincidence ive just spent the afternoon/evening playing hero for a friend with a 2006 650 Honda Transalp,

he called me up to say he couldnt start the bike, i had to push start him sunday eveing and i assumed he had a flat battery, but today it wouldnt start, went and tested battery 8v engine off,

got it push started 9v-10v at 5k rpm!

this was at 5pm, hes going to the IOM in the early hours of the morrow, so i stole the REG/REC of the wifes CBR125, and have had to make a loom up for it to work a few hours later and the battery is being charged again and its putting about 13v out

the transalp uses a different plug to the other honda reg/recs wierd!

i hope i made a good enough temp fix until he returns
