Slider pin removal

Any tips? Overhauling the rear caliper today and they are seized solid, will get my blow torch on them when I remember who I lent it too :down: It little one seems to move its the larger one that in rock solid!

Seems the last person to do them didnt fit the boot seals properly and may as well not put them in.

unfortunatley i found that getting bruttall was the only option as the allen head rounded out so i hammered a tox bit in! :shock:

i also use a pair of mole grips on the pin that was just between the pads,

its a bitch of a job,

the new one thats in has a liberal ammount of copper slip on it so it doesnt happen again :)

Yer always have problems with the rears on my car.

I was quite surprised the caliper wasnt too bad on the bike the pistons were very tight tried getting them out using the pedal on the bike but wasnt happening so hooked it up the system on the car as its obviously got a larger cylinder and managed to pop them out. The pin that holds the pads in came out after a little force its only the slider. So could have been worse I guess! Still a pain in the rear end!

Gonna try the trick of sticking it in the oven see if I can heat up the cast so the pin simply drops out :pray:
Although the misses will be back from work soon and its not worth the risk of getting caught with bike bits in the oven!! If she finds out I know how to work it I may have to cook tea! :whistle:
