Re: Toying with EFI.......
Yeah they might be good to use.
Coming across 1 set might be likely in the near future, finding 2 used sets would be difficult in Oz!
You could probably get THIS done for less than buying 2 new sets of TB's from honda:

I've seen that, looks very good, but there is definitely a lot of time in fabricating TB's from scratch. I guess it would be nice to use the VTR TB's IF they were plentiful, got to be a bunch in Japan right?
I've installed many stand alone systems in cars, everything from Golfs to Radicals and Elise/Exige's, so the electronics part will be relatively easy. Its the hardware that will prove difficult!

I've checked and not found any yet.kostritzer wrote:I guess it would be nice to use the VTR TB's IF they were plentiful, got to be a bunch in Japan right?
There are far more efi CB400's on the road in japan than efi vtr250's, and even those TB's proved difficult to find (found a set in the end).
They'll be simple to get hold of in 5 or so years when more people have crashed their bikes...

Re: Toying with EFI.......
I'm looking into something else at the moment regarding throttle bodies.....
Leave it with me for about a month and I might have something that's workable fairly easily, I'm still caching enough parts at the moment though (Or trying). :)
I don't want to say too much until I've got something that either works.... or is a complete bust, then I can post all the info, I've got half of what I need at the moment, just need the other half off fleabay....

Hmm, sounds V-twin related to me! c'mon, give us a hint!
I have a set of NC35 carbs that look like they were pulled from the bottom of the titanic, I was thinking it might be possible to convert them to FI TB's like this guy did with V-max carbs http://roadstercycle.com/yamaha_vmax_fu ... cv_car.htm
Would probably be easier to use NC30 carbs as a base since the slides are round though.

Re: Toying with EFI.......

Don't want to give any more details right now, but it's using commonly available parts. That will need a little bit of machining..... not a lot, and a couple of brackets making up..... erm... thinking about 4 at least, plus an adapter plate.
I've an old set of NC30 carbs which I was planning on stripping for the butterflys and throttle control mechanism.
Still have to work out the fuel rail assy bit. It all looks like it should fit ok, but I need to try it first.

Re: Toying with EFI.......

I'm using cbr125r throttle bodies.....
length wise they are within 1mm.
Butteyfly on them is 30mm, planning on boring them out to 32mm and using the nc30 carb butterfly and linkage.
Inlet side is slightly larger at 34mm
Not sure what the flow rate is on the injectors.
Downside........ as single throttle bodies they each have a separate idle control valve. This makes linking all the idle valves up more difficult, or switching to one idle valve and then porting it to the other tb's.
They each have a throttle position sensor, map sensor and inlet temp all in the same block, which isn't too much of a problem....... MAP will need some attention. I either need a map sensor on every tb. Or port all cylinders vacuum to one MAP sensor....
MAP and ITB's cause problems....... :)
