petrol / wd40 will remove grease quicker than parafin / meths will so be very careful about getting it onto bearings as theyll need a full clean and re-grease if you do. there also more flammable than parrafin :)

Re: Damn Masking tape!
I recently painted my discs so masked over the discs. When i went to remove the sticky residue methys and wd40 were both garbage.
Sticky stuff remover worked better with a brass brush but it was the braking surface so i could be as abrasive as i liked.

Re: Damn Masking tape!
just use petrol to get the sticky stuff off, then wash them in warm soapy water to get rid of any petrol on there, the secondary wash is probably not necessary but will get them squeaky clean
will save you doing any special journeys to buy overpriced cleaner, plus you only need a tiny bit of petrol.

Re: Damn Masking tape!
I resprayed a mates bike and masked the design off with masking tape only used cheap stuff and it left sticky residue, WD40 took it off with very little effort I tried meths and that didnt work well at all and thinners would have damaged the fresh paint. WD40 and a cloth and work in a tiny circular motion.
