Upgrade Questions :]
Hey guys,
Im looking into getting an HRC CDI Unit to derestric my NC30 but I am wanting something a little bit cheaper (if thats possible) I have seen all the ones on ebay claiming to add revs etc etc etc are these the real deal? or just a crock of shit that removes the speed limit?, I recently attended a Dyno shootout and my NC30 put out 52.83 HP at the wheel but it struggled to redline and it spluttered when it got closer to 180 and it didnt exceed 182 so this has lead me to think it is restricted, would a HRC CDI allow it to valve bounce as it were?
Secondly I am also in the market for a full exhaust system without the silencer, I have seen the Tyga ones etc but was hoping for maybe an alternative and maybe something a tad cheaper? cheers guys.

Re: Upgrade Questions :]
I think first you need to look at your carbs, a standard nc should rev out cleanly to redline even in 6th. Then if you want more the ignitech cdi's are the best option IMO, dont mess about with silly HRC boxes but if you find a HRC cdi cheap enough go for it but ignitech's are about £100

Re: Upgrade Questions :]
If your unsure of the service history then i would,
Do the valve clearences
Clean, mod, balance and rejet carbs if needed
New air filter, plugs and oil change if you got the cash but atleast a new air filter if its dirty
Do that and she'll be good to go

Re: Upgrade Questions :]
Cheers mate, the filter is new and I have just done the oil and filter, im hoping its not the plugs because I will have to sell the misses on the side of the street to get the money for four of them haha, I am looking at getting a full set of stainless pipes and a better can so I will rejet when I get those on the bike, and will get a Dyno tune and balance.Drunkn Munky wrote:If your unsure of the service history then i would,

Basically yes, a crock of shit.DrunkenMistake wrote:I have seen all the ones on ebay claiming to add revs etc etc etc are these the real deal? or just a crock of shit that removes the speed limit?
There are numerous reports of blown motors when using these on this forum - don't touch them with a stick!

If it doesn't go over 180km/h then it's probably restricted - it costs about $1 to get around this, there's a how-to in the document library.
If it wasn't revving out in the first few gears below 180km/h then it's likely to be a fuelling fault (no way of knowing until you look inside the carbs yourself) or an electrical fault (fairly common). Could also be a number of other things but I'd start with these because you'll need to check them sooner or later anyway for peace of mind.
Follow the vfr/rvf electrical system checks in the document here:

Re: Upgrade Questions :]
Cheers for that guys,
I have got myself one of those Ignitech CDI's with the HRC map programmed on it, and a full racing exhaust system and muffler, I am also getting new sprockets and chain, im thinking 14 - 41. as I want more acceleration but I dont want to drop my top speed too much.

Nice one, those mods wil make quite a difference to power and acceleration.DrunkenMistake wrote:I have got myself one of those Ignitech CDI's with the HRC map programmed on it, and a full racing exhaust system and muffler, I am also getting new sprockets and chain, im thinking 14 - 41.
What sort of exhaust did you end up getting?
