How does the Fuel Tank Attach

Post by 999Gomerz »

Hi Guys,

You are probably geting sick of me by now, sorry.

Just got my bike, (1989 NC30) and the Fuel tank appears to be pretty loose.

There is a bolt securing the rear, but there is no rubber pads on the frame or underside of the tank and there is only a metaltab at the front going into an opening on the frame.

As I said, it moves up and down as well as left to right, this cant be right. What bits do I need to fix it please?

Cheers.

The tank should sit on a rubber, there's a few for sale on eBay. There should also be a rubber lining around the front edges of the tank - again you can get this on eBay.

Thanks mate,

I just did a search for VFR400 Tank, NC30 Tank, VFR400 Rubber, NC30 Rubber, VFR400 Mounting, NC30 Mounting and could not find anything.

What are they called, can I use something else, ie thick rubber on the frame, and a different type of rubber at the front that I can just get from a Rubber shop.

Cheers,

The nc30 tank actually has 6 rubbers. One on the rear so it squishs against the subframe. 1 one the front which jams against the headstock. 2 block rubbers either side which slot on the rim of the tank and rest against the frame. And two further rubbers which are strips that run further up to the top again on pushed on to the rim.

Thanks, I was sort of hoping to make them myself, but I have emailed David Silver for a price on the bits.

Are all of them necessary as the bike will be a track only bike, or do I just need to use contact adhesive and some rubber mat on the frame spars and the front???

Cheers.
