Dash Bulbs

Post by gullarm »

Does any one know how many bulbs are fitted to illuminate the dash ( speedo/ revs etc ) , mine have all gone pop!

I can only locate one - where are the others?

I want to get some sorted but cant seem to find them.

Also can they be replaced with LED types, they are a bit yellowy.

Wouldn't recommend LEDs in analogue dashes. They tend to cast a very direct light, so you end up with dark patches on the speedo. Don't be tempted to fit 5w bulbs, they'll melt / bleach the faces over time. Max. 3w, though the standard is 1.7w.

I think it's 1 in the speedo, 2 in the rev counter and 1 in the temp gauge. You can buy multipacks on eBay much cheaper than in the shop. I have used this guybefore, you can choose 2w or 3w.

Next question is - have they really all gone pop at once, or is there a fault in the wiring to the clocks? If they really have all gone pop at the same time, you should definitely check your charging voltage, as this often indicates an over-charging regulator.

I have counted 4 so far - 2 large ones and 2 small ones.

My reg/rec is knackered so that may have spiked them got a new one on order.
