R6 shock

Post by spongy.bob »

Hi all,

I've been offered an R6 shock and I'm considering fitting it to my nc30.

Has anyone done this already? Or is there a thread on here already?

I'm particularly interested in the shock length compaired to the OEM shock, and what's involved in getting it on (so to speak)?

Cheers to everyone for any help!

I've done this in the past. The eye at the top needs to be filed down a few mm to fit, and the one i had the reservior did clear the undertray, but the ride height was VERY low!

But i have noticed recently a member called kayla850 that does a custom shock adaptor that might bring up the height

Cheers Slowsport!!

when you say it needed filing down, was that because the diameter was too small, or because the it was too wide to fit in the frame? (if that makes sense)?

Just done a bit of research and the R6 shock is 340mm, where as the nc30 OEM is 305mm. I might be being simple here but wouldn't that make the ride height very tall? or has it got to do with the linkage?

ye, about 5 inches of extra ride height is a fair bit really! :P

More research and it seems they can also be between 300 and 305mm depending upon the year so that might account for low ride height Slowsport?

Would anyone recommend drilling the dogbone to make its shorter, or is Ricks jack up kit the only real option?

oooh, very nice! when you said you made it, i'm guessing you bought two rose joints and then fitted them to a threaded bar?
