Re: Yamaha R6 rectifier
I have seen a few threads on other sites covering heat soak in regards to regulator/rectifiers, the whole point as you know is to disperse heat through the unit that's why they get so funking hot, one site suggested a copper plate and to me this makes sense as finding a flat surface on an NC isn't easy and it will transfer heat away from the unit much quicker...................I hopeCRM wrote:disperse as much heat as poss, however mine is a bit scewed and not flat. find any copper plate to space it let me know
I saw it so I took it!

Re: Yamaha R6 rectifier
Well after a little research I managed to get a new battery(Varta) and the R6 rectifier which turned up today. It's all fitted and working as it should, I will keep an eye on it over the next few days.
I just want to thank those who advised me on the problem and hopefully won't get left behind by my mates again heh

What about using a heat sink from an old pc cpu cooler? A lot of them have copper bases and can be picked up for next to nothing. I think it would be a relatively easy process to modify one so you could mount a reg/rec to it.
