Yamaha R6 rectifier

I have found a replacement rectifier on flea bay and would like to know if it's a direct fit to my bike before I purchase, it's a R6 2006/7 5 pin unit but I have seen in some threads a relation with 03/05, does this make a difference?

If it is the 5 pin your fine but if it is the later 6 pin look elsewhere
None of them are a direct fit. You need to modify the wiring slightly

So, will I be able to fit this without modifying the wiring?



I have re-read the post and see I will have to modify the wiring, how hard is it or is it just a simple case of removing the bikes wires from the block and connecting them straight to the rectifier or are the terminals in a different position?

if using a yamaha one, you will need to snip the plug and use some terminals crimped on
the 2 main wires are the other way around compared to the Honda one. are on my R6 rectifire on my 35 anyway

Nice one, I have just bought an R6 5SL model 5pin off flea bay so hopefully my charging issues will be behind me.

I file some material off the R6 reg rear fins so that it sits flush on the subframe, it's soft material files easily.

Then you can use one of the original reg holes to mount it. Very secure, but you could always stick a nut on the back of the bolt if unsure.

Not a great pic, but you can see why you need to remove some material for it to sit flush over the protrusion in the subframe. Yours is a slightly different shape but probably still applicable.

The rectifier that Cammo has in the picture is actually the one that I ended up purchasing, all I know is that I will have to remove my bikes block connector and swap the +and- terminals around and see if I get the result in which it was intended.
Am I better off ensuring that the base of the unit is completely flat against the bikes metal frame or would you suggest a copper heat soak plate?

disperse as much heat as poss, however mine is a bit scewed and not flat. find any copper plate to space it let me know
