Digital dash idea
This is actually relevant to my CB-1 but since there are more RR'ers on the board I will ask here.
Has anyone thought of using the speedo sensor from a 1996 CBR900 on an nc29 front sprocket cover to provide the digital input for a digital dash? That would have to be tidier than sticking magnets to your brake discs, wouldn't it?
Just a pipedream about eventually fitting a digital dash, nothing too exciting or immediate :)
Looks like it might fit? If so then you could use a converted nc29 front sprocket cover on nc23,27,29,31,36, and whatever else uses the same engine.

You can get mechanical to digital cables for use with digital dashes, i have one on my RVF and it works fine

Hi DM,
that'd definitely solve the problem neater than magnets on discs, but I'm guessing it wasn't so cheap or readily available?

About a tenner mate
you can get them from koso. either plug and play with a koso dash or chop the connector off and wire it to what ever you want

Re: Digital dash idea
Hey that looks like a great alternetive for the magnets. The 6 bolts on the NC29 are perfect for magnet use but what culd be better than an direkt sensonr?
It´s just for the speedmeter right? How do you calbrate it? And does it fit an KOSO RX 2 Digital??
I´m actually looking for an solution for rpm-Picup. I donßt like the way KOSO want´s it. That wrapping cables around an spark plug. I guess its difficult on the NC29 Spark plugs cause they are so deep in the head and also it´s gonna be very anoying when you kill the engine and have to clean the wet spark plugs.
So that sensor is available by KOSO and it fits right out the box to that chain guard?

It will give a digital pulse, so if you want to fit it to a Koso it'll work, you just calibrate it as you would if you were fitting to a bike like the CBR that sensor comes off.Crazy_German wrote:Hey that looks like a great alternetive for the magnets. Could you put the RPM pickup around an HT lead, or is that too weak a signal?

Don´t know dude. the manual says it has to be wrapped around the spark plug.Could you put the RPM pickup around an HT lead, or is that too weak a signal?
I´ll contact the KOSO service, maybe they can help me out. If I know more i´ll let you know.
Btw: I didn´t found that speedsensor on the website from KOSO, so were do I can get it from?
