Shes Legal!!

Post by pugparcels »

dont get too excited...not that type of she & not that type of legal!

after 2 years, 2 months and 14/15 days i have turned this non runner, this large garden ornament ( when i found her ) into a tax & tested road legal bike.

shes not to everyones taste, she keeps the wife happy. still loads to do get her at her best ( side fairings back in for paint next week ) just really chuffed to have got her through the mot after all of changes i have made. but none of this could have been done with all of the info i have gathered from here.

Personally I'm not a fan of conversions as I think it's a shame as the NC30 look is iconic, sad to see another bug eyed Honda converted in to something it was never meant to be.

HOWEVER, looks like you've done a sound job, it's one of the nicest conversions I've seen!

Any pics of the build process?

Pug's got a build thread on this bike.

I really like what you've done. In some ways, I prefer the front/nose cone to the tyga kit. Well done mate!

I've read your build thread and been enthralled. Unlike many others I'm not too fussed about retaining the iconics of the Nc30. If you like it then good for you.
Personally I think you've done a first class job, I like the bodykit. Modern enough but understated enough not to look out of place.
How hard can it be?

The reason she was done style was this is what the wife wanted, i prefer the nc30 looks and really would have liked to build a oki rep or something along those lines but as it was going to be her bike thought it was best to keep her happy ;)

To be honest a tyga kit would have been far quicker and easier! the only down side i am not a fan of the headlight and again the wife really likes the 600rr so it was the easiest way for us to go.

there is one simple answer to that. it was f*cked. the pictures make it them look so much better than they were, the tail section broke in two as i removed it and not the correct way! Not all of the plastex in the world could have fixed these!

shes never going to be to everyones taste, as in a preivous thread we discussed the fact it is likely to be preffered by younger riders, who maybe on a restricted licence etc as they get big bike looks but with out all of the power. again why we went for this body for the wife, she wanted the looks, i wanted the less power for her as it would be her first big bike.

im just chuffed shes now all legal, it has been such a long time since i bought what was a wreck and what the seller believed would never run again. I did enjoy the ride home last night from work, only a short distance but fun. They do make you work so much more for what i would call an enjoyable ride. when i ride the blade home, sit in first maybe second and instant power whereever you are in the revs.

this little beast makes you work for all of that, you gotta keep the revs up, think twice about can i get round that car etc. i can now see why these bikes are so popular as track tools. the funniest thing is people are really confused what she actually is. when i dropped her off for the mot, the tester came into the shop and asked where the vfr was as he could not see her outside. It was not until i pointed out she was in a cbr suit he realised which bike it was. that is all the wife wanted, someone to think it is a bigger bike than she would be riding....looks like my efforts worked

I think it looks pretty good, a nice black frame and swingarm would have been the win for me! ;)

Good job.

You cant please everyone but I think it looks really good. Would go so far as to say if honda made a modern 400 like this put it on sale, it would sell a fair few!

Better its a 600 lookalike and now on the road rather than broken up and in bits.
