water was the cause any ideas how?
hi guys took my old engine part at the weekend and everything was fine cylinder walls fine pistons and rings fine but there was alot of water within the cylinders. it was also mixed with the oil but funny thing was both head gaskets are in perfect nick!
do you the heads have warped ? miniscule cracks or fractures?
any help would be great .
will also be posting alot of parts for sale in the parts for sale very soon.

Mine had coolant leaking into one cylinder, the head gasket failed on that cylinder and wall was slightly rusted. If you did a compression test the leaking cylinders would probably have had low compression.

hmmm , all the walls are clean buddy , and the gaskets really are fine .
just not sure on what has caused so much to enter!

I have seen people make the mistake of thinking water was in the cylinder before, did you remove the head and if so did you notice water in the cylinders? This might be from the remaining water in the head and as you lifted it, it drained into the block.
Why did you strip the engine? was there signs of water in the cylinders before you did the strip?

You can do a quick check of the head with the side a steel rule and feeler blades but this is rudimentary and will need a precision messuring bench unless you skim it

I am re-reading and realising how many questions there were in the original post.
As for cracks, you can either get technical and carry out an NDT(non distructive testing) technique where you use a penertrant detector or you can simply pressure check it but you will need rubber bungs and an air line, the other option is a magnifying glass and look but wouldn't trust it/you lol.

i can confirm there was no over run that entered when i removed the heads , some pistons have more than others m the reason my bike buggered up is because it seemed like it was drowning itself.
i have replaced the engine with a fully gasflowed jobby in which i have finished completing over the weekend , i fitted this last night and will be waiting till saturday to finish it all.
im selling the old engine in parts and will be selling the heads , i will mention that they WILL need to be skimmed as there are alot of people who cannot be bothered out there.
