Help! New mod gone wrong!
Hey guys, I've got a 91 NC30 and wanted to get more performance. I was recommended to port and polish the intake and exhaust. We found out they used abrasive material to do it like gritty sand. So I got with my friend that tunes Suzuki's and we decided to try it ourselves. We got a bag of sandblasting sand and hooked up into the intake and started the bike. We had to hold the throttle on almost full so it would run. He wanted to let the engine suck in the sand through the intake so it would port it out and then push it out the ehxaust so it would port the exhaust manifold.
I was worried that it might cause problems but he figured it'd be OK. After running the bike and letting it suck in sand we got about half way through a 25 lb bag. The check engine light was on and the engine was bucking and kicking and sounding really weird. We stopped and hooked the bike back up normal and took off the sand supply. We tried to start it again and it was really hard. Once started it couldn't idle and kept making weird noises. I took it out and drove it and it started to make scraping and knocking noises.
Help! Can anyone tell me what to do! My buddy only does Suzuki's so he doesn't know much about Honda's.

Re: Help! New mod gone wrong!
This is a fucking joke right mate?
Biggest bunch of baloney i've ever heard.
If it's true though....people like this shouldn't be allowed near these machines, there aren't too many left in the world now and we need all the engines we can get. This is such a shame to hear.
Save this kind of stupid shit for the new crap like ninja 250s, not these prestigious machines. Sand through the engine? Fuck that shit mate... I'm speechless.
I'm surprised it ran at all and didn't block up your carbs before anything happened but you went ahead and it's gone inside the combustion chamber and ripped the cylinder walls and piston rings apart (probably most of that scraping sound you here)... oil will be full of the shit and that knocking sound will be your crank that is gone.
One thing for sure... the engine is gone already, so post a video for us so we can hear what it sounds like man, I'm interested to see that.
...only if this is for real though.
EDIT: hahaha nice one!!!

Re: Help! New mod gone wrong!
are you fucking stupid ? clearly you started with the wrong grade of sand, you need to start on fine sand for 3 mins, then move to sharp sand for another 2, then gravel mix for 1 min at 4000rpm before rinsing.
that will sort you out, however make sure you remove the air filter first
