RVF Needles. washers or no washers as standard ?
My RVF pulls like a goodun, however just pulling away its rich and once the bikes warm can almost try and stall being so rich. give it some revs and its fine, however it doesn't make for smooth gentle town riding once warm.
Airscrews make no difference really, however i noticed the needles have 2 washers fitted. this isn't right is it ?
2 washers, one is 1mm thick, and the other is .5mm thick - no wonder its bloody rich pulling off.
2 more sets of carbs, one has exactly the same
and the other just has a 1mm thick washer.
Which is right ? i am assuming they should just have the 1mm thick washer and no more.
lets home some clown hasn't drilled the slides too

he did and he said it was nice and rich but never checked the needles, he did wonder if it had some different needles but as it was so rapid and strong up top (perfect for track) never checked them.
let me measure the thickness of them now

Pretty certain mate, I'm sure I've talked to rick about it in the past too. Every set of rvf carbs I've had had 0.5pm washers in them although that's well odd that none of the 3 sets you have are the same.
I had a bog stock rvf with a end can which run flat in the midrange, an extra 0.5mm almost got rid of it. I put 110 mains in it too.

ok, well bearing in mind it has 1.5mm of lift, i will remove the .5 first so its running 1mm and try over the weekend, if it still bogs a bit then i will go down to the .5mm only.

Re: RVF Needles. washers or no washers as standard ?
I had to order new needles for my RVF carbs as somebody had some aftermarket ones in there and it wouldnt run right.
They all came with one washer each.
I think the washer was 0.5mm but can always double check if your stuck.

Yeah try 1mm. I always start from 0.5mm and work upwards if it needs it.
Drive back was clear sailing cheers pal, it's always nice to look around Simons little shop of nc's
all I'm gunna say is watch out for him on trackdays, his little NC is going to be packing some serious punch

Thank you very much for quoted post! I just came on here to ask. Mine is completely standard with just a Tyga silencer and at 6k revs it has a bad flat spot.
