Bros rear wheel conversion

Looking a cheaper way to get a 17' rim on the track bike and the Bros wheel seems to be the cheapest option. I know there is an issue with it not fitting directly onto the NC30 hub, so what actually needs doing? Also, does anyone run one and what are your thoughts, and finally, what is the year and standard tyre sizes they take, thanks.

My '88 Bros has a 150/70-17 69H TL spec rear. That's all I can help you with I'm afraid!

seen this done a couple of times, and i think there's a track bike on the bay at the mo with the conversion done, cant help you with anymore as i dont know any other details, although i did seen a 'Modified brod wheel to fit nc30' on ebay once so i assume ite the wheel that needs to be moded to fit and not the hub

Check page 2 of the 'Parts For Sale' section, there is a Bros wheel for sale. The guy may have some more information. Seems a bit steep at £80, as a 750 wheel is only about £100, but if it fits on (has been adapted apparently), it might be worthwhile. I have some pictures of a modified Bros wheel somewhere, may even be this one. I'll try to find them if you're interested.

Yeah, seen that one in the F/S section, but as you say, £80 is a bit rich, they are going for half that on e-Bay. I'll contact him and see what it's like, cheers Dave.

I have seen on up close and it does work and looks OK This was used only as a wet wheel on a track bike.
You need to check on the old forum mate - username RVFMark (i think) made a post or 2 about the spacers and the machining that is required.

Bear in mind it is heavy compared to a std 18.

Personally I would not do it as the level of mating between swinger and wheel is not confidence inspiring and also the weight puts me off too but if you but if you want a cheap 17 incher then it is the way to go..

I thought about doing this to my NC30 (the one that looked like a Ducati)
Rick Oliver had one which he sent me - we discussed it and decided against fitting it. Purely on the fact that what CMSMJ1 has just said. The amount of contact holding the wheel in place is questionable, I also seem to remember that the spigots were slightly out so holes on the wheel were ovaled!!

At the end of the day thoughits your call!

There is always the Ducati 748 3 spoke wheel option too.

I have a bros wheel fitted to a track bike at the moment,not sure what work its had done though,i'll have a look later/tomorrow.I'd be looking at somewhere near the £70-£80 mark for it

Sorry guys I thought it was a fair price based on £30 for the tyre and £50 for the wheel.

Bear in mind that extra weight over the back wheel is no bad thing in the wet...
