Ignitech CDI question

sorry to dig an oldie up,

just recieved my ignitech from brother rick

however there is no software disc, i assume i need to download from what above posts suggest,
any one got a link for me,

i also wanna trial a lead out before i got for the plunge as i see there is some problems getting it working

i have 2 laptops here, one with XP, and one with Win 7.

advice would be great cheers lads

Serial to usb works fine on XP, software can be downloaded from ignitech

i have the driver and lead installed and i guess working

which one program do i need? there seems to be a few,

can the ignitech be programed on the bench or does it need to be connected to the 12v and elec sys of the bike with the engine running?

Thats the one you need and yes it needs to be connected to the bike 12v system unless you have the lead for on the bench programing. One you have the driver installed goto your system properties and look under hardware to see which port your usb2serial has been assigned to. Set your ignitech program to this port, the autocom function didnt work for me.

well ive installed the drivers through all 3 USB ports, im a bugger for forgetting which one i did originally,

i know that they go 3,4,5 com ports

i have 3 usbs btw.

any way, carbs rubbers have been left over night in petrol, ive cleaned the inside section on the V block, will probally refit carbs tomorrow as i order some SS M5x25mm PZ2 screws to replace the worn, tatty, rusty black PH2 screws on the rubber carb clamps,

so as soon as the carbs are back in/on ill go out and have a play,

ok got the bike running this evening, and firing on all 4 thanks to uber pikey, top man that, karma on its way.

ive communicated and had a little play, i set the RPM to 5k and ill be damned it works!

i notice that the tacho reading it way out on the computer in comparison to the clock, like 300rpm ish.

how do i adjust this lads?

also what else should i toy with to make the most of it?

I think the pc/ignitech tacho will be more accurate than the standard one. You can't calibrate the standard tacho.

i thought you could set a correction after all its the CDI thats controls it via the pickups right?
