nc24 versus nc30
Hi,what are the major differences between an nc24 and nc30.
Are nc 24s (to use a phrase) a poor mans nc30, i've raced an nc30,but never rode either on the road.
Would a cheap (but good condition) nc24 be worth buying ? or are they a bit old hat ?
Thanks,steve.

For a road bike mate? I know a cheap one....needs MOT (fork seal, exhaust bandage)
They are cool, just as fast and with a very...er....interesting handling feel. I like them but they need to be cheap enough as they are definitely old tech compared to the old tech of an NC30

Hi mark, it's just for a road bike/cheap toy, not for racing with a 16/18 inch wheel combinationCMSMJ1 wrote:For a road bike mate? I know a cheap one....needs MOT (fork seal, exhaust bandage)

Hey Steve,
if it is cheap then do it - they are cool bikes.

Yes they make a fun road bike. The 16 / 18 inch setup is great fun. The handling is soft, the frame isnt quite as rigid, the tyres are less advanced and the brakes are not as good as an NC30.
You can get some cracking deals on the NC24, but there are some real shitters out there too that have been abused, as members on here will attest too.
Keeping a knackered one running (properly and safely) is likely to cost at least one of your kidneys.
Check bearings for play in the wheels / swinging arm / headstock.
Exhausts rot and collectorboxes are rocking horse, however RCV4 makes a nice stainless replacement for around 3-400 quid, which might be out of many price ranges.
The downside is to remove the exhaust requires taking the engine out of the frame.
Talk to the owner, see what they know abotu the bike, if they have serviced it etc.
Even a cheap NC24 with knackered tyres / chain and sprockets and brakes is going to cost a few hundred quid to overhaul.
If you get a good one though the engines are practically bulletproof, make as much power as an NC30 and are fun to ride.
If you were intending to eventually build a track-day bike id say save up and start with an NC30, for the extra money youd already be at a huge advantage.
