Upgraded Caliper & M/C Question

Post by ludacris »

Thought I may as well enlist the help of the brains trust on this...for those of you who are running or have run SP1, SP2 and CBR calipers with upscaled m/c's, are you using braided lines specific for the VFR or RVF or are the lines you're using specific to the model that the calipers or m/c came off?

Basically, can you use RVF braided lines with the new calipers and m/c? Cheers.

the angle of banjo on the caliper is the thing to watch.

NC30 lines won't fit the SP1 style calipers.

no idea if the '35 calipers have similar fittings.

get a 2 line kit whatever you do - the dodgy loop over mudguard is not cool

Yeh I'm definitely getting a 2 line kit. Spot on, your point is exactly the reason why I'm asking...putting the kit together before I make purchases so I can do it once and do it right.

I guess you could for instance buy 600rr lines for the 600rr calipers to negate the banjo angle issue but then the length of the line may be the issue. To be more specific I have access to a great set of RC51 calipers so that's what I'm more than likely going to be working with.

What's the problem with the loop over the mud guard? I bought NC30 braided lines being told they would be long enough to fit fireblade calipers. They were not and I couldn't be bothered with sending them back. The only way they would fit was to loop it over the mud guard. They seem to work fine :-?

I used 600rr lines on my 600rr/sp1 calipers, the length isn't a problem.

I used standard rvf lines on the 600rr/sp1 calipers prior to that (to pass for rwc/rego), so braided rvf lines might be fine.

lol sorry mate, can't remember what the rvf caliper looks like where the lines fit.

Just google some pics of the rvf caliper and the 600rr/sp1 calipers. It's the angle of the banjo that needs to fit both.

All good mate :)

Did as you suggested and the banjo angles look similar across the RVF, 600rr and the RC51. I think I should be safe, if not I guess I can just offer up the lines on here.
