How to sell?

Post by Seoul City »

I'm not quite certain which section this posting should go in, but here goes. Within the next few months I am going to have to part with my beloved NC29 because I am moving abroad. What I would like to know is will I be expected to allow a prospective buyer to ride her off, solo, into the sunset for a trial, or does he/she have to just listen to the engine running and take the rest on trust? There are no pillion footrests or pilion seat, so I can't take the buyer on the back, and I am very reluctant to let someone I don't know simply blast off into the distance. I have lavished a lot of care on this machine since I bought her three years ago and will much appreciate some advice.
Many thanks.

It is entirely up to you. It is your bike at the end of the day.

The only way I would let someone take my bike out would be if I had the full cash value in my hand, the persons driving licence and their house keys too....

ALso, I would probably get a bike myself and come along for a spin...

When selling a bike I have never had a buyer test ride the bike although they have never asked too.

I would if I have the full amount of cash for the bike and the deal was that if there was any damage then they would buy the bike.

You never how they ride. It is a bit different but a friend of mine sold His VW Polo G40 (supercharged) He was in the car while the test drove it and he redlined it from cold over and over. After a few times my friend just said pull over as you can't do that. You can't do that on a bike but just make sure the bike is warmed up before he/she rides off.
When your Aprilia RS250 is more reliable then your girlfriend then you know it's time for her to go.
