damn that's a lot of k's you 2- nice!

I'm going from a 600cc modern supersport back to an NC30 for the fuel economy and knowing it will never drop in price and depreciate....not to mention the nostalgia.

Will be hoping to pick up a well used highish mileage model with all the problems sorted and parts replaced.

Can somebody tell me what a normal MPG is on my bike? It's to the left there under my name, my climate;

Keeping speed below 100kmh on a steady cruise, I've been getting 3.3/L 100km for these bikes so that's 70mpg. Of course, that's a cruise figure so has no relevance to stop and go town riding etc. No way I can get under 4/l 100km for a 600.

Check your rear callipers aren't seized, accurate main jet selection and carb settings and good air filter.

Well 5 is better than my 8.5 so a 600F4 looks good to me, I get better mpg only from 120kph+!!(our freeway speeds, although i might accidentally have been going 170 on occasion, my hand slipped boss, in unison with my gear changing foot and clutch hand :whistle: )

I don't know and probably won't have enough money anytime soon for your suggestions but thanks anyway :mrgreen: getting honda to do carb synchronisation will cost me at least R1020 and they have to get a dyno especially if i want it dyno'd but the guy said that won't tell him enough its best to get feedback from riding? is he a plonk? he said the dyno will point out bad areas but that yea it needs to be ridden to check...I don't want this guy putting miles on MY bike just riding it around to 'check' it I thought dyno'ing will tell all and somebody clever can sort everything from getting that data and then re-dynoing?? :(

P.S. I'm about to be on equivalent of job seekers allowance, working full time shifts thats why I can't afford shit, and at the moment I'm earning zilch! :cry: found my job advertised at heathrow, 6.24x better paid same job!! ha, welcome back to south africa for me :grin:

No, don't give it to someone who isn't going to ride it. If it's someone who is doing it properly then they really need to ride it. I know it's YOUR personal bike and stuff but just step off your high horse for a sec man and let someone ride the thing to actually make real usable changes.

I'm a poor as fuck student with barely enough money for oil changes and I still manage to do all this shit myself, no excuses. Just get the carbs off and synchronise them using the throttle butterflies and a drill bit/feeler gauge- the results are just as effective really.

You won't get better mpg from 120+, the air resistance is too great. Always below 100 if you are going for hypermiling. Less air resistance the better the mpg but the more boring the ride!

Grab a cheap haynes manual, borrow some tools and get stuck in to everything. Keep the search page open on this site with a laptop and you can't go wrong really :)

ok so he does need to ride it, but I've never sync'd carbs ever in my life so although i've seen vaccum guage tool for sale I have absolutely no idea how to do it lmao, and 1 day of this bike out of service and im fucked, i will be commuting 104k's a day getting a lift would mean I'd be asking somebody to drive 204k's a day and there's no public transport in africa... ;) shit i really need t get a puncture repair kit/thingymajig a flat tyre and i'm also fucked :cry:

I wasnt asking if i get better mpg from 120kph+ i do get better mpg from 120kph+ can't argue with what my bike is doing thats how it is :shock:

There are quite a few threads on here about the vacuum gauge sync method that are easy to find with the search but I reckon taking the carbs off and doing the throttle butterflies with the drill bit/feeler gauge is just as good and so much easier. Good luck!
