NC30 Track Project, Est completion May 2011
Some of you guys may have seen this on PB, which is why it may seem like im talking to myself at times but im actually answering questions people have asked in these first few posts, But i'll post it here also since 400gb gives me alot of inspiration :)
So, My first time on track last year, second session, i binned Trig's (Dads) ZXR on the last lap :eusa_whistle:
Now that the aforementioned 750 is my road bike and i've got two complete NC30's i feel the urge to turn one of these into an easy to fix-lightweight-track tool.
Don't get me wrong, I've got feck all experience on track, but my brief sessions out i loved and i'm constantly accompanying others, and now i've no longer got my restriction on my license i can ride whichever tracks i like :)
Oh, And just so you know i'm not going overboard with the bike because i see myself as the next insanely fast "racer" and that i'll gain and notice every gram i shed off the bike , Just that i'm a sheet metal worker/welder/fabby by trade so the works second nature to me, mix that with a love of bikes and it's a no brainer really to get the bike sorted properly :icon_salut:
And im skint at the mo... (Like everyone else)
This is the bike as it was originally once i'd rebuilt it from a couple boxes of bit and stuck it back on the road,

Over the past two years it's been tidied up, New Double-Bubble screen, solid rearsets, samco hoses and the like.
Let the Stripdown commence!

Measuring up for Single seater ally subframe

New Ally Clock Mount/Fairing stay i've welded up to replace the seperate stock items, Still unsure wether to paint this black or not.

Modified Clock braket, Moved the Tacho & Temp gauge more central and removed the speedo, Didn't have time to make a new ally one today but is on the to do list.

Clocks cleaned and refitted,

For those who spotted the extra two holes in the bottom of the bracket, Going to have another small bracket fixed to them with a Neutral & Oil Pressure LED's.
Got a little soldering job to do here before i grab the LED's for the clock lights tomorrow,

I've already got a ZXR400USD front end I rebuilt and sorted from a while back, Wheel's spaced and yokes modified.
Just need to make up some adaptor plates to fit either the ZXR Calipers to suit the NC Discs, Or some Harrison Mini 6's i've recently come across :)
Only thing i know i'll have a problem with may be the rear shock, Which is totally knackered and squelching, as i've got no cash to get it rebuilt or get some Nitron goodness. Thankfully thefatman gave me some tips on rebuilding them myself not too long back so may head down that route just with a new spring.
And wheels may be another stumbling block, Currently fitted are some Alpha 10's that have done around 3.5k miles and the rear is slightly squared and the other NC has some BT92's fitted but they're old and seem to have gone hard (Havn't ridden them myself yet)
Just wish it would stop raining so i could make a start on the fibreglass bodywork i've got in the attic, Hasn't stopped pissing down for the past two days
That's all for now,
Toodles Chaps.

Keeping the engine stock for the time being also, May remove the Quieting gears in the top end but not venturing much further than that.
Already got a stainless aftermarket system, Race can and bigger jets fitted, Unsure as to what the bike is producing BHP wise at the mo but eventually i may start tinkering with a bigger airbox and intake at some point in the future.

Got the instrument panel finished today,
Had a bit of Tidying up to do on the loom, i removed all the unwanted block connectors and taped the excess wiring back to the loom.

All Tidied up and Oil/Neutral light fitted.

And working, Really happy with the outcome here as the bars have atleast 15mm clearance from everything at full lock.

Once i'm happy everything is perfect mechanically, i will probably make a race loom up and look into some of the total loss mods.

Got the USD'ers on tonight,

With a little help from my chocolate mouthed little girl,

In order to finish the front end i need: -
Some more 50mm Clip-ons since Trig robbed mine for his K3
,
Lockstops making and fitted,
Caliper Adaptor plates,
Calipers Overhauled and fitted,
Find a ZXR400 Mudguard somewhere, let me know if anyone has one or know of any alternatives that fit :)
Laters!
Edit*
Just had a quick measure of the 750's mudguard and it may fit, Will look properly tomorrow when i'm actually half awake and theres *Some* Daylight.

Sorry if this pictures a bit dark,
Ditched the ignition barrel & Rewired the killswitch tonight, Now act's as a absolute on/off switch for everything so i'll trim the top yoke down tomorrow.

Toodles.

I Do, Theres a certain year CBR with some 310mm discs that fit too, Havn't had any luck finding any at the mo and i'm skint anyway, Luckily i know someone who can sort me out with some nice milled adaptor plates to bring the calipers in to fit the 295mm discs.
Oh, And just discovered the Seven-Fiddy mudguard is a bolt on fit too, Yippee.

Take one set of filthy old NC30 Carbs: -

Strip em: -

Clean em: -

Drill out the slides: -

And whack em back together: -

This set is currently jetted 120F & 122.5R, So should be a good to run with the Micron race can & System thats on the bike (Not sure what the system is, But fairly positive it's not a standard system)
These may replace the carbs currently on the bike if i have time to start fettling with the fueling before may.
Id like to get the needles shimmed up another .5mm and go from there but we'll see what happens and how i get on.

Mocked up the track bodywork prior to repair work and painting it, Pity i don't have the USD'ers in the bike atm as they're off to measure up the caliper brackets, Once they're back in i can check all the front end clearances too :)
