Umm, after reading you post I thought long and hard about what to do, should I reply or not, and see it only fair that seen as I started quite negative post about your company, (which wasn't my original intention), but I feel a few thing need clearing up. In my original post I did state that at the responsibility lies with me and this I still stick to.
I know christmas needs to be payed for, and that seems to be how your pricing worked on the day, I spoke you over the phone 4-5 days before picking it up and we discussed the tyres and the price of work already done and to loosely quote "Another hour or so to tidy up", so based on the £80 to £100 you began with (although you did say that with carbs it could be longer depending on the job...) , and you knew the history because I told you everything that I had done in regards to jetting, cleaning, new rubbers etc, hell I think I mentioned that I fucked my bike up rejetting it on the first call, I have learn't to tell the whole story so that none of it comes back to bite me in the ass even if it dents my pride a little, all can be found on this forum, poor cammo had more pms from me than he deserved. so to reach the sum of £500+ (£300 without the fitted tyres, so 3x the amount quoted) without consent quite frankly dirty business, and there is no excuse here because I spoke to you every 2-3 days so there was more than enough opportunity to tell me the "bad news", I only ordered the tyres because the price hadn't altered all that much from the original quote barring the "hour or so". I would have had no problems paying for the work to be done and would've left the tyres till a later time (they were still legal, and I would've had been happy to use them for another month).
I would love to have phoned to discuss all of this or more to the point discussed it before leaving your shop, and perhaps I should have, but the above had help me lose the trust I had in you, (you all seemed like nice enough people to deal and looked the perfect oldskool outfit to know about the bike and get it going, and you did). If it wasn't for the final and surprising invoice I don't think we would be here now.
"Secondly I only shaft girls." this could be explained... I felt like a bit of a girl when you gave me the invoice, as I didn't have it in me to question it at the time, I regret this to this day, bloody tart.
"Bike arrived with plugs loose and one of the main jets in the float bowl", really had these apart more times than I would have liked, and I know the main jets were in, that's where the whole process of coming to you began, in regards to the plugs (and you can only be talking about the fronts) I might have left those loose (ie cautiously tight, to much had gone wrong with the carb jetting) and was probably fed up with the lack of skin left on my knuckles.
"2 nippon denso plugs in the front,NGK's in the back" correct the NGK's were the originals and the Denso's borrowed from a friend, used while trying to sort out the bike, after the jetting was done, and put in a day or 2 before you guys got the bike, they were brand new. and went from vauxhall bridge to you no more than 15 miles. Admittedly I didn't mention the plugs at the time.
In regards to the wheels, I bought them from a trusted member on here, yes threads needed to be re-tapped etc, but they went on without problems and always looked good, more than I can say for now, so given that I trust the seller of these wheels i'll stand by his product of freshly powder coated wheels.
I guess I owe an apology for the slanderous first post and possibly the odd remark above, as I said before it wasn't originally intended it was a bad week for the bike with the off and lack of oil and strange rattle, I use it every day rain or shine, and I love it to bits. Up until I (notice the I) played diy mechanic it ran like a trooper and I am still regretting doing this, and believe me I would much preferred to have turned around on here and say I found a really good trusted mechanics, which you very well may be, just not so great in being upfront with your customers.
I have to say although strangely surprised, I respect your post as it filled some of the voids I have left out, and reading back I suppose the main issue I had, was the way you dealt with the money side of things, which I still think was poorly dealt with, there were an awful lot of things on that invoice that were never mentioned, (the balancing was), ahh which reminds me, while sorting a sticky choke cable I got to have a look at my replacement stainless steel carb screws where "all the screws are shiny and new", I must have mis-understood your use of '"all" because only the brass ones on the plate appear to be shiny and new, none of the float chambers screws are new, is this correct? I know the brass ones were rounded out (not by me), but that was another job or part you sprung on me.
Well I've had enough typing now, I think between these three posts a more or less a full picture has been painted. So I can do no more to clear my name?
Matt
