How to stop fork pitting above the fork lowers
Re-building my forks, I noticed some light pitting on a small area of the fork tubes. The photo above shows the worst. As this is above the area the oil or dust seals come into contact with, it's not an immediate problem. Nonetheless, what's the best way to stop the corrosion? I'd like to try ACF-50 but it's not available in Thailand. Any ideas what's best?

That looks like it would polish out with Solvol or similar. Keeping it at bay? Only regular maintenance/cleaning will help you there! You could try WD40 or similar to keep the chrome permanently "sealed" against the elements but a) it will rot seals and b) it attracts dust and shit...

I alawys use some wet fine grade sanpaper in detergent and gently rub the pitting out. Then I put some WD40 on after it. Never had pitting again on the fork sliders.
