Anybody know what the PCD of the drive pins is on the Ducati ? - the rims seem to come in 5.5 and 6" so going Ducati might solve a few problems in one hit.
As for numbers, count me in as interested.

Remember this is unsprung weight so there are handling benefits too!tanto wrote:It would be useful to know the actual weights. One hundred quid might be better spent on the big "saves"; an LiFePO4 battery, an ally rear sub-frame, or a digital dash. Rotating weight is more difficult to reduce inexpensively.

Would each person need to get their own thread cut? Or would that be on exchange?CMSMJ1 wrote:I've had a response from Felix, our man with the skills.
He reckons it is doable and so I would like to gauge interest in this.
We are looking at a rough guess of £100 - depends on quantity and whether it is viable.
I'll loan Felix a spare rear wheel to get a look at this.
benefits - you lose that bloody heavy rod inside the rear hub. HOw heavy is it? Anyone got one lying about? Will look awesome too..
Problems - err..should be reliable,
@ Reverse Cyl Jim - Is he up near you mate? Might be worth a visit
Very interested, it looks the business. (And that's what really counts right!?)

The crack is.
If we can get 6+ people in for this we can get it sorted.
You get;
Your axle machined
a new lightweight nut.
it looks pimp.
you will also need a 55mm socket to remove the wheel nut.
SAves about 265g - which is a lot off the end of your swingarm.
So..can we get some buy in?
Axles to be sent up to York for exchange.

Yep, count me in.
Anyone got any spare axels, so my bike isn't off the road while this is done?
(Geoff?!)

Mark, so could this be done to a already lightweight RS250 axle?

I expect it could be Tony. Don't see why not - tapping the thread in it is the only structural change and tat is only a mm or 2 deep??
@ Matt - I'll be droppping in on Geoff and see if he has any spare axles.
So..
we have a steady 2/3 for now.

I have also mentioned this on the Hawk/Bros forum as they have the same system and it could boost numbers. Will keep you posted!
