Im sat here LMAO as all I can post is the situation that has happened!!!

I have come to realise the way some folk are in this place as regards to coming back with flame comments and its all par for the course and always the same people so is to be expected ;)..

The issue was a fuel starvation one if fuel (or not enough fuel) is getting to the carb it isnt going to run, hopes and dreams wont help nor will praying to satan.. Hence the first thing most people will do is hook up a direct line aux tank to see if the situation changes, in my situation it did and the HRC mod has sorted it!!

Sure I could have got a new line from RO but to be honest im not f-ing about taking the carbs off again to get the new line on to then find its a tap issue and then have more layout on a rebuild kit..

Not much more to say???

Nope and I periodically change them on my bikes that do to avoid the gumming up situation..

it might be worthy checking you breather trin, i found the hard way on sat between jct 2 & 3 of the M54 and when my new tank bag crimped the hose over and starved the bike of fuel its blocked or slightly blocked this will slow the fuel flow.

The breather is alway the first "check" when ever something like this crops up and it was fine, also there wasnt the sudden hiss when I opened the tank to check for a air lock.. I had a old Kwak that would have to be opened up every 100 miles or so to relieve the pressure..

I think its about time Tyga AKA 400Jap did a pattern replacement fuel tap for these..

When I first bought my nc35 It ran like a dream, I garaged and kept it looking clean with silicone lube and a rag.

One day decided to wash it old school, with a hose and bucket.

Couple days later the bike starts stalling when riding, I sit on the side of the road, it fires up... and I ride off home.
A lil strange, but didnt bother thinking again.

I only ride it to and from work, so it's about 15 minutes, everything is sweet.

Happens again a couple days later after a slightly longer ride... I hit up 400 grey bike, hear all about this fuel tap conversion. Carried it out, no worries, got on the bike and thought shit yeah it's fixed!

I was wrong and about 30 minutes later it dies. I opened the tank to see if if was pressurised, and no hissing, nothing!

It gets me to and from work (barely) for a week, I pull the tank off at work and get one of my mates to look at it... what does he find... The water drain pipe for the petrol cap has been sticky taped into the opening for the tank breather. and because the water drain pipe was full of water from me washing it, the tank breather couldnt work! Pulled them abpart, covered my knee in stinky water... problem solved!

Good to hear you got it sorted it can be a nightmare trying to find stupid problems like that..

I never use water to wash any of my bikes unless its a off roader, I tend to use Motul wash and wax to remove the grime and then Motul Silicone spray to get the bright show room finish..

I remember years ago my friend had a NC30 that had a fuel issue it would have fuel starvation when in the "on" position even with a full tank but would run perfect on "res", this happened even with a full petcock rebuild?? never did get to the bottom of it!!

If you read back you will find it is becuase your question was about the general concensus of the HRC mod.

Even when outlined by several people that it is still regarded as a bad idea your approach seems to be that you cant be bothered to find the actual problem and fix it but stick with whatever is working for you

If youd have made it clear from that start that youve got the bike running but cant be bothered to fix it properly and just want to be aware of the side effects of removing the safety mechanisims Honda built into the bike it would probably come across a lot better than asking for opinions and then resposnding with cant be arsed to fix it propely.

Well the general consensus is that it seems quite a few folks on here have done it without any ill affect and that was what I was trying to find out..
However it looks like the people that have had problems are the ones that are to incompetent/forgot to turn the fuel tap off when they park the bike.. I have always made sure I have done this since I started riding so in my case it is a quick fix without spending anymore cash...

I was asking what the draw backs where, My situation is irrelevant regarding being arsed to buying a fuel tap rebuild kit and time needed to order said part.. I simply asked what issue may arise from doing the mod and if there was a after market fuel tap that ran without a vacuum!! and from the replys it seems as long as you dont leave the fuel on you will be fine and that is ok with me as it gets my bike on the road ASAP (and has sorted the issue)..

As for not being bothered to find the real problem I dont have to its simple: Fuel is not getting from the tank to the carbs, so its either a Vacuum line or fuel tap internal problem ;) hardly rocket science.. My best guess is its a fuel tap issue..

I also fitted a dry break line as I had one anyway just for piece of mind as was stated..
Of course the vacuum is a safety aid added buy mr Honda just a shame that the standard pipe they fitted was shite and it collapses when it gets hot just what a rider needs when going into a roundabout off the M1 :whistle:
