Rear Shock Question *Now With Pic*

Post by Delboy » Sun Jan 09, 2011 3:59 pm

I'm over hauling a rear shock for an NC30, whilst removing the pipe from the remote reservoir, the internal part spins. Although I can put a spanner on it, is this normal/acceptable?
Cheers guys:

Update.... This is the part in question, if you hold the cylinder the middle bit spins

Quick update, stripped it down and this is what it looks like so yes it is likely to spin, just for future reference if any one else strips down their remote res.

With the shock/res on the bench, remove the pipe (be preapared for a LOT of fluid to escape).
Where the pipe connected to the res, push it in, it will act like a plunger.
You will notice a circlip, remove this then the end piece will be abled to be withdrawn from the cylinder.
Inside the cylinder sllipped onto the end of the small end piece is a small black rubber 'sack' for want of a better word (which contained the fluid).
I'll put up some more pics, it's just that I couldnt fiind any info on it as I wanted to strip/refurb powder coat it hence my initiall question.

This is attched by just slipping over a lip on the end piece

Now clean, powder coat and reassmbly is reversal of removal
