Not sure what the white flakes are, but it looks like it may be exhaust putty/gasket to stop an exhaust leak.
It looks like the gaskets are still in there you will have to get them out with a screwdriver
Also be careful when you put the exhaust back on, as you dont want to damage the threads on the 3 mounting bolts on the rear manifold. I know to my cost, as i let the exhaust bracket damage teh threads and when i did the nuts up, it broke the stud

Ha, I'm scared now, the biggest fuck about was getting that huge 8 shaped piece of metal that's on the pipes off the three studs. Took a lot of hitting. At least the exhaust is welded now, great peace of mind! Let's just hope it goes back on nicely!

and if teh front downpipes are loose, it will make things much easier. Also if you can ,once you have the exhaust in place support it under the U shape section at the bottom to take the weight off the studs.An NC is for life, not just for Christmas!

Cheers for the advice, going to give pidcock Honda in Long Eaton a ring tomorrow see if they can sort me out a set, if not I'll get some from Rick Oliver and just wait for delivery.
The full system is out, so I'll loosely position the front pipes, then use a car jack with a towel on it to raise the rear in to place! Looking forward to hearing it run with no blowing, never heard her running properly since I've had her! Need to dig out those old gaskets and putty tomorrow along with shining up the pipes + cleaning the bits I can't normally get to whilst I have the chance.
