Nothing more to say really, if it's been organised it'll be here.

Noise testing - Oulton Park

Post by vr46 »

Hi All,

I recently got my bike noise tested at Oulton; I watched the guys infront and the noise tester positioned the noise sensor inside the exhaust can.

I thought the sensor was meant to be held outside the tail pipe at an angle... :?:

Anyway my bike passed but the bloke said he would monitor me at the drive by point :|

inside the can can't be right! it's the noise that exits the can that is what is heard, so they should test it ouside the end of a can. Only ever seen cars done but the guy had a metal rod with an angle on the end which he put to the end of the can and the meter was set back about two feet at the top ot the rod, surely can't be that different for bikes?

Just a note to this, not sure how long ago since you got tested at oulton, but since the beginning of the year, all msv circuits are down to 102 from 105!
Get the baffles dusted off, you're gonna need them

102db :o i dont think ive ever owned an NC thats been under 102

I think it all depends on weather or not you know the noise tester, there is always 1 or 2 bikes at trackdays that are clearly well over the limit and no one batters an eyelid.
