got caught up with my Mustang for the past 6 years, it's now a beast of a car :whistle: (and a big hole in the bank account...)

Intresting read.

I currently have an RVF race bike, which i was due to sell, but cant bring myself to do it
She's quite a high state of tune 69bhp, running total Loss!
Sooooooooooo, Here’s the plan.
I plan to convert to daylight MoT for the summer, with an endurance style head light. As shes running total loss. its bloody good opportunity to upgrade the rotor etc.
I would just like a wee bit of advice on which rotor to chose, and if someone could provide Rick O's email or contact details, I would be very grateful.
Additionally has anyone, converted to the endurance style head light with revised brackets for the headlight, I know it not rocket science but if anyone has any advice to ensure I don’t cover old ground or make a pigs ear of it.

HI RSVR,
If you do a search for Rick Oliver in teh members area here, you will get his email addy ;)
You can use either the gixer K5 rotor and coils or teh K7 rotor and coils but you cant mix and match them.
Ricks kit is teh rotor cover and connectors, you will need to source the rotor and stator seperately from ebay or similar. The K7 rotor is a little lighter than the K5 but also more expensive and not so easy to find.
Cant help with the light bracket, but i think Drunken Munkey has done this before?

Evening :grin: Do the gsxr conversion, i did the same with my race bike and couldnt bear putting a standard genni in it.

As for the headlight it depends on the nose cone your using, i brought a 2nd hand silhouette endurance nosecone that came with no fittings at all for the headlight so i just made some L shaped brackets from ally to mount the original headlight. Mine uses both lights with covers but you could always just cut the right light off.

I just have the RVF race fairing, so will have to cut and fabricate it.

Sods law, I once had a very special NC30 from jap it was OKA endurance special, lots of trick parts, but I sold it to fund the racing.....and I’ve regretted it ever since. :cry

Just a thought, know any where you can purchase the endouro style fairing.

Also, have you finished your project yet?????? Paint work finished.

Tony, thx for the advice! Hopefully I can collect my late spec rotor and stator soon. I am looking forward to this mod for my project bike, so my next station after that is Mr.Rick O. :grin:

Got my K7-K8 stator and rotor this weekend. Got it from a pal I know, he has a few spare gixxer engines he tunes for amateur racing competition (he will have another set soon). Now I soon need to get that lovely cover to get it on with this mod.

Okay, bike had it's first proper run at Mallory at the weekend and it sure did seem to rev up alot faster. The engine also seemed crisper.
The track was damp and we where running on wets, so i couldn't give it full beans but the improvement was very noticable :grin:
I was expecting to get more in the way of engine braking, but to be honest when i rolled off the throttle i felt i had to dab the brakes too rather than just rely on the engine. Perhaps this was caution cos of the weather, but i guess only a proper dry run will tell for sure.
So was it worth it?

With less flywheel weight, you will have less engine braking.
