1989 NC30 - Other bike with the same calipers
Hey all,
Does anyone know of any other bikes that were fitted with the same Nissin front (or rear) brake calipers as an 1989 NC30?
Thanks
Luke

All NC30's have the same calipers front & rear, some fronts are black, some are gold, they're all the same.
If you want to fit other calipers, you'll have to buy fitting brackets & there are plenty of threads on here about brake upgrades.

Re: 1989 NC30 - Other bike with the same calipers
Thanks for the reply, though you may have misunderstood what I am after!
I am looking to source caliper parts for my NC30. Often calipers aren't manufactured for just one bike, for instance, I have seen the same Nissin rear caliper on my 675's, on various on GSXR's as well.
I was just wondering if there were other bikes (non-NC30) that came with the same calipers as the NC30 thus making parts interchangeable and therefore easier/cheaper to find!

No, i got you, the NC35 has the same rear caliper, thats it.
I dont know of another bike with the same front calipers. theres none of that with the NC30 im afraid. NC30 caliper parts are cheap as chips if you avoid buying honda parts & honda parts aint really that expensive.
& NC30 brake parts are common as muck, you could always put up a wanted add on here.

Pretty sure the single brake on the Bros is an NC30 caliper.

Early honda rs250's (not sure what year) also used the same calipers.

Just to add - I'm not in the UK (well, originally from the UK) but now live in New Zealand
Spares are not as easy to find here as you guys have it. Means I have to resort to having stuff shipped from the UK (which usually incurs tax as well as heavy shipping)
I am after a new set of brake pistons for my front calipers. I have a quote from David Silver, but with shipping and tax, I'll wind up getting little change out of $500
I do need them, so before I bite the bullet and place the order, I thought I'd check to see if I could order them from a different bike model in the US from somewhere like bikebandit (seeing as the NC30 never made it over there, it's not listed).
Cammo - where do you get stuff from in Oz?

Re: 1989 NC30 - Other bike with the same calipers
I gave up on rebuilding mine because of the co$t. It was cheaper to get some good used 03-04 600rr or SP1/2 calipers from US ebay (about USD$100) and some Rick Oliver adapter plates. If you don't need to stick with the original calipers (race regs etc) then this is a much better way to go.lukemillar wrote:I am after a new set of brake pistons for my front calipers. From several places, UK ebay is usually cheapest but a bit of mixed bag regarding quality, Yahoo Japan is good for rare parts but pricey. RB Racing is worth a shout for all new and used parts (work on and break 400's), reasonable prices and good service: http://www.rbimports.com.au/lukemillar wrote:Cammo - where do you get stuff from in Oz?

Yep - it's a post-classic race bike so sp1 or 2 calipers are out as they have to remain of the era.
Looks like I'll just have to suck it up! Anyway, thanks for the links - some useful stuff.

AFAIK, the following Honda bikes used the same front discs. Not sure if they use the same calipers too, but they might be worth checking:lukemillar wrote: Does anyone know of any other bikes that were fitted with the same Nissin front (or rear) brake calipers as an 1989 NC30?
